Here's a few more VSTi to add that I tested-

-XMax
-Xen-FMTS 2
-Ultra Swamp Free
-Umbra Free
-The Music Society Synth
-Superwave P8
-LongSound Voice Sampler
-LongSound SugarWave
-LongSound microKORK Light
-LongSound P-61
-LongSound P-62
-LongSound Dudelsack
-LongSound MOcean Synth
-DeezNutzFM
-EightySix
-LazerWave
-LPX-S1
-Poly-LD8D
-Rogue
-LaserBlade Pro

Kinda getting burnt-out on VSTi so switching to VST now... SVAr is funny & strange with plugs... None of the Full Bucket Music VSTi or VST work, Sonigen Modular no way, All the Dead Duck VSTi-VST no way, many others...

BTW not assuming everybody knows this but on the VST wrapper you got the left/right program arrows you might think THAT's IT!... Well just click in the middle on the program NUMBER & you will get the whole list & can go direct to any preset you wish-

Image

OK so now onto VST FX!... There's billions for sure maybe my list here will make it easier you might even have some of these scattered about or you can go to any of the 'VST-Up-Yours' sites...

Now I did not get as picky as with VSTi... If I liked a VST FX but it did not program change in the wrapper then I saved tune & re-opened to see if positions were saved... OK then good enough... BUTT! if the VST DOES change via the wrapper this changes the whole game because now you can hook that EFFECT up to it's own track just for the purpose of PROGRAM CHANGE!...

Image

Pretty cool & you can have your own custom programs not just the built-ins... You use same method like I showed on the 3 Claw instances...

I think it's plenty for now... Will muck about testing more Synth Drums the issue with those is that usually the internal kits are small but being able to program change on any note makes ALL internal kits available, well as long as the wrapper will change so I am only gonna keep those that work perfect...

For WAV drums I have a ton of soundfont drums & perc I have made up just load into AntiWave & go...

BTW restructuring track down I was hoping I could just have a 'program' lane for use in changing FX programs not instrument but SVAr wants at least ONE note column & ONE volume column as well as the program column or it won't restructure...

Before getting serious & thinking ahead I find that as one is composing which for me may take 1-5 weeks just fiddling here-there during a weeks time that as the Effects Processor cells fill up it may be hard to discern what commands do what...

this would especially be the case if you are combining curves from DIFFERENT plugins into ONE cell... So maybe you have 2 curves from one FX & 3 from another combined with 4 from a VSTi... That's 9 curves spread out over 3 plugins...

Now say you have 12-24 cells used so far... You gotta go thru the 'hive' just to remember what is what...

Best to use a VST Notes DLL just loaded into an adapter!... Nice thing about machine hookups is that the note plugin does not hafta be hooked to anything unlike other systems where it gotta have audio passing thru!...

VSTNotesXL can also have images imported... Haven't tried yet but may try importing the shortcut image previously posted here... If not then I'll just type up the shortcuts... So good for that as well...

VSTNotesXL can be had on the wayback-

TrackPAD2X was designed for Tracktion but works well in SVAr... Much simpler but also SMALLER with just enough space on it's titlebar to grab & move it around...

Use both & be eligible for huge prizes!!

You can get issues...Bad one's too... Don't know if SVAr doesn't like my connections or maybe a plug issue... Or perhaps it's not stout enough to handle the strain of what I was doing... Strange how rendering caused corruption of the song file...

Image

However here is OK so far but one still has to finish all edits save, quit SVAr then re-open song again THEN render perhaps to rid of edit buffers?

Image

You should keep a copy of installer handy & a copy of your 'Cfg' folder just in case-

OK, Well, after more examination it looks like the bad problems are from some plugins not being well liked by SVAr... Am starting a serious tune & just recent added Delay Lama which I thought was good but bizarre activity ensued like all sound stopping or crash siting 'outgen' as the problem... Removed it & everything fine...

So the previous long lists should be viewed as a 'initial start' of what VSTi-VST will work as you save & re-open several times it may be THEN that Ugly shows it's face...

Other than that I really like composing in it & the arranger really rocks...

So add plugins one at a time & always save incremental>>>

Last nite I made a squelchy 303 kinda bass in old Klangformer beta (2002)... So this morning was mucking about using SVArTracker's multi-temporal patterns feature plus a few quick & dirty use of the Effect Processor... The Effect Processor takes a bit of time 'massaging' all the curves to get the perfect run I didn't 'massage' as this ain't a serious tune...

The multi-temporal patterns feature very cool, no need for finicky tempo-mapping...

OK... I find that when doing many curves in the Effect Processor it's best to do one at a time... The issue is that you want the beginning AND the ending of each one to be exact same... You do this by staring at the SVAr param knob whilst pressing the 'RUN' button... You are looking for any jerking at the beginning & that it rests right where it started at the end...

It's a good idea to have something as a 'witness' to mark the start/end of the knob... At first I thought of a screen annotator but that seemed fiddly... Then I got idea of using a 12-point star & making a trans GIF out of it then turning it into a screenmate... This way it just sits there & I can drag-drop it anywhere... Since I cannot rotate it no problem as any of the 12 points will be plenty close enough for a pointer-

Also as a reminder to de-tick settings in adapters other than sampler which is de-ticked by default-

OK, Well... Worked some on my SVArTracker tune today...

Enough to upload a WIP for sure, which is about 1/3 of the tune, which is turning out to be Jazz-Bossa like...

For some reason the percussion ended up being rather loud...

Continuing with ‘SVArTracker Studies’ Looks like one can go up to 9 notes per track restructure which will leave one with a program change lane & volume lane then up to 6 FX command lanes… Which may seem excessive but say You are only doing a curve or two in the effects processor you can then trigger numerous curves (up to 6 cells) at the same time rather than packing 6-8-10 into a SINGLE cell…

This one is rather important, figured it out though... When opening SVAr the 'MIDI-In' assignment may change, or may not...BUTT! If the device it's wanting to hook to is 'Offline' at the time you then proceed to open a song you will get crash... So when opening SVAr it should be the very first thing you check... do it!...DO IT!!!

I have not figured out the 'Messages' sector... perhaps a future feature not having yet been implemented...

Been busy reformatting a machine with fresh XP install... Found that SVArTracker in this fresh install KEEPS the skin images intact from start - to - start... Also a bit more stable overall... This is same XP SP3 Corporate 2009 edition as other machine so SVAr must not like the ATI graphics or drivers on the other machine (maybe)...

Have many VSTi that are not on the net or hard to find including CM editions which are free actually... DuneCM works well in SVAr, have also extra patches HERE>>>>>

Another is up... BigTick RhinoCM, which works well in SVArTracker... It will install to programs directory, then just copy the DLL ITSELF to any or all VSTplugins folders desired...

There is one thing to mention... In SVAr One can be 'Drunk With Power Mad' doing crazy program switching note-to-note but with RhinoCM this is not possible as it accesses wavetables upon program change so takes time to switch as Rhino is a hybrid synth where true synths that generate on the fly can be aggressively switched... For RhinoCM you will have to give space enough to do the 'Silent Note-OFF+Program Pre-Change' to get things right without notes being 'dead'....

Anyway enough about that crap here it is-

https://archive.org/details/rhino-cm

Image

OK, I LIED... Giving it some thought I had better explain... Really ANY plugin that has to access a different set of WAVs in their library is not gonna be able to smoothly do program changes on a single instance, You may have to instance the plug many times & be-bop back-forth...

This is DIFFERENT with SVAr's internal Anti-Wave Sampler which loads ALL program's WAVs into RAM within the SF2 or DLS... Yes, it does chew a large chunk of RAM but program change is available at every note without fail....

This can be heard on my fretless bass action in my current SVAR WIP-

https://alonetone.com/TalkOrBell/tracks ... hole-(wip)

Plenty of program changes in there making instrument sound more like real thing... Now if I were using the plugin those came from which was Trilogy I would not be able to do such fast switching but what I am using is the output of Trilogy sampling all the Jaco Bass instruments compiled into separate SF2s... Then I choose (out of 18) what SF2s I wanna combine from individual instruments into an SF2 BANK... In the case of the previous mentioned WIP it was these-

Image

THEN loading into just ONE single instance of Anti-Wave any of those program changes are available at any moment...

So this is certainly one advantage to use SF2 BANKS in Anti-Wave VS Synths or other samplers that switch to other WAVs/tables...

Back again for more brutality...

Recently been reformatting a machine & re-install of tons of garbage BUTT!... one thing I came across was the freeware image-line miniHost modular which installs as a standalone AND as a VSTi & VST DLLs... Found it works pretty good in SVAr which NOW enables one to pipe a vSTi's MIDI controller hookups directly to SVAr's VST parameter curves/wheels... So now one can also invoke the bastard 'pitch bend' as it should be done without resorting to 'tricks' like 'son-of-a-pitch' audio pitching VST effect or other...

Initial tests in SVAr also indicate one can use VSTi that SVAr usually don't like & readily puke up... So far just saving song file saves config in miniHost modular including patch in VSTi INSIDE modular BUTT! Only for non-multi-timbral synths... If using a multi-timbral synth only first channel patch is saved... Of course not every damn synth is gonna work but many more do...

To get pitch bend like in simple form here I hook in Terry West's 'miniMix' then create automation link in plug as well as miniHost to 'parameter 0' then draw whatever curve for pitchbend...

Image

Have also tested out in EvoBeats Sequential Vibes & Ultrano Dreamer... Seems to work pretty well in both... In the case of both of these one has to 'Tweak knobs' for automation which I don't much like but sequential vibes is pretty smooth about it so I decided to make a tune in it just to see-

Image

As one can see it's beyond simple as I add more automation pins so far for pitch bend, modulation, separate volumes & probably soon for combined cutoff/res... Everything saved within song file, too cool...

When starting miniHost whether standalone or opening VSTi/VST GUI one has to clear out the 'freeware startup screen' which doesn't bother me much...

Image

MiniHost is not perfect though as it was a product that was dropped but was implemented inside FL Studio instead... This freeware version is the last of what was available back in 2014... Can't find any good links to a working version, don't know if one can grab it if you happen to be a member of the image-line forum but I would think not after all this time...

Oddly one thing miniHost does not do is FXB/FXP save/open so one has to use VSTi/VST that have their own browsers or other way of accessing internal presets (like Rt-Click on GUI likle old ReFX Claw & such)... Can't have it all I guess...

Will probably also upload this to archive.organism for safe-keeping...

OK... Uploaded MiniHost Modular... Included a copy of MiniMIX for easy VST Param to MIDI Controller conversion...

https://archive.org/details/minihost-mo ... 5.8-beta-3

One thing though... When loaded in SVAr it works fine but for some reason the menu items in the upper left seem to not function but they do in other hosts... This is not a problem as nearly all activity is RT-Click on BG...

Image

Those were shots from SVAr on a 1000x600 netbook... Seems to work OK but yet another where wallpapers don't stay...

Image

I use rollup to titlebar alot in the netbook-
