The nexus 6 suffers from severe visual lag when working with complex songs, but note that the audio itself is perfectly fine. Would this be improved if SunVox was forced to run in a lower resolution? Like, running the rendering engine at 1280x720 instead of the full 2560x1440 would probably still look great.

This phone is also infamous for having an encrypted file system, but without a hardware crypto chip, causing very slow I/O. This could obviously be part of the reason. Unfortunately the only way to disable encryption is by rooting the device, and I don't want to do that just yet. So I'm afraid I won't be able to check for a while.
EDIT: After disabling all module visualizers, shadows and backgrounds, the FPS increased to around 4-5. Still not great, but a lot better.

You could tweak the build prop using a text editor, if you have root.

Re: Half-resolution mode for Android
Still no good solution for you, sorry.
I will try to implement the low-resolution mode somehow later.
