Sharper transients?

Post by GENNA »

So, although I've been using SunVox for a while now, I just discovered VANS and I am truly impressed with it. The feature set, the portability and creative possibilities make this a really wonderful tool.

I know that it's not possible to due an exact reproduction of an audio file and I'm OK with that; however, is there any way to obtain sharper transients? Any audio that I import that has sounds with a fast/sharp attack get somewhat "blurred".

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks NR for yet another great program!

Cheers!

I suspect that the problem is that VirtualANS is simulating a tonewheel system, and that softer attack is a deliverate result of the simulation.

Mind you, I don't know this, and it's just speculation.

That is certainly a valid explanation - and you just may be right.

My other suspicion is that is has to do with the FFT conversion process. I know there is always a trade-off between time resolution and frequency resolution when converting from time-domain to frequency(i.e spectral) domain.
