Sometimes one wants not merely compression, but also expansion.
Here's my scenario:
I'm using feedback elements to create a simulated Tape Delay loop, with a distortion module, a filter and so on all creating some subtle crunch.
The problem is that when I make the loop sensitive enough to keep regenerating, I get a layer of noise that gradually accumulates until it all washes out. This is not good.
What would fix the problem is a module that does the opposite of a compressor's normal function: pass louder material unaltered, but damps softer material.
Maybe I'm not seeing one of the subtler possibilities of the compression module, and that's on me. If so, just let me know.
I also tried a Sound2Ctrl leading to an amp's volume option, but that didn't seem quite satisfactory. It's a very blunt tool.

Good call, iaon!
Yes, a modification of that approach does work, and works well.
