ARMv5 Linux (Zaurus, Pogo/Sheevaplug etc.) port

Hi Nightradio!

I'm back with another ridiculous port request, although I think you like ridiculous sunvox ports! :)

I've recently got Arch Linux running like a champ on my SHARP Zaurus SL-C3000. I can already run Milkytracker well on it but it doesn't compare with sunvox. In futility I have tried running the Maemo and RPi builds but they use newer ARM CPUs so its no go.

I'll be back later with a video of the rare ol' ARM machine that wants sunvox!

Thanks Nightradio!

Here's the vid I promised!

https://youtu.be/O7h2FZBsKjg

I recently brought a new lease of life to my old SHARP Zaurus SL-C3000 Linux PDA by installing Arch Linux on it.

In this short video I demonstrate some of the fun things you can do all from the Linux console like play DOOM, music via moc, GameBoy Advance games via VisualboyAdvance and create electronic music with Milkytracker.

Near the end of the vid I plug a USB mouse in. The Zaurus does have a touchscreen but for various reasons it was just easier and better that I use a mouse to control Milkytracker instead.

If you are lucky enough to own a Zaurus SL-C3x00 series then you read my ZALARM install guide to install Arch on your Zaurus:

If you require help with running Arch on the Z then check out the Arch Linux ARM forums on OESF:

Hi,

I have right now stumbled upon this thread... I have a Sharp Zaurus SL-C1000 (which basically has the same specs as the SL-C3x00) and I'd also love to see a port of Sunvox running on it!

Greetings
Varti

Sorry for delay...
Device is nice :) May be i will add its support in future, but now i can't find the easiest way to install the GCC (with Zaurus support) on my Debian Jessie

Hi,

thanks for your answer! Yes, the Zauruses are quite nice devices, very small but quite usable and sturdy. Too bad they have been discontinued since many years, and that there are almost no similar, recent devices with Linux support (basically, only the upcoming Pyra handheld).
The latest supported and most up-to-date distro for the Zaurus is Arch Linux ARM, running kernel 4.9-rc3. It runs on Zaurus SL-C3000, 3100 and 3200 models, while support for the SL-C1000 is in the works. Framebuffer and SDL on FB work well, a couple of users are running Fluxbox on it too. You'll need to build a crosscompiler for it, instructions can be found here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cr ... guidelines .
If you need any help, there's a Zaurus Arch Linux ARM (Alarmz) support forum here:
http://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showforum=167
The user greguu there is the maintainer of the Alarmz port.

Thanks again for your time!
