Ok, here is the question that I care about. What is the best symbol for the MENU button in SunVox?
MENU may contain the following items: file operations (new, load, save), edit operations (cut, copy, paste), some settings, etc.

The wrench looks to me like a good icon for options, or preferences, or something like that.
The menu items have the advantage of matching similar designs in various interfaces (some android implementations spring to mind).
The sliders are a bad idea, I think, because they suggest specific things in the music context which aren't really true.

All that said, the wrench isn't bad. And it does have the advantage of being the established icon, so we know what to look for.

Definitely #2. As Koepkepan mentioned, it's generally accepted and perceived as standard menu icon already. Not restricted to Android only. I partially do UX/UI design for a living and would take #2 with no hesitation.

I voted for the wrench because I think goes with the edit/lock icon better than the menu icon. But the menu icon would do a better job of telling someone where the user where they can the save and load functions (and preferences and whatnot) at. Option 3 just doesn't work, period.

How about small "Menu" text?
