Data loss from saving the project while editing a meta module

Post by madhh »

Hey guys. So it seems I accidentally saved the project, while i was still editing a meta module. When I try to load the project, only the inside of the meta module loads in, and there is no way to go back to the rest of the project. Is it possible, that my project is still there, and only the back button is missing, or is my project gone?

It sounds like you have overwritten the project. I don't know a way to recover it.
Hopefully someone else does!

To help protect from overwriten projects you can set
'Make project backup before overwrite' in the preferences.

There is also an autobackup option in the preferences.

The funny thing is that it was turned on, but sunvox did not make a backup. The backup file is there from a year earlier, but sunvox did not save into it for some reason, maybe this is another bug?

That must be frustrating, hopefully the old backup is some use.
I don't edit metamodules often, so don't have any insight, it does sound like it could be a bug.

What is your system?
SunVox saves its sessions as hidden files (with a dot at the beginning of the name) in the working directory:
.sunvox_prev_session.sunvox - main project
.sunvox_prev_session1.sunvox - inside of some metamodule
.sunvox_prev_session2.sunvox - one more level deeper

Internal file browser does not show these files.
