randron (random drone maker)

Post by offthesky »

i was playing with a friend's modular synth and the thing i loved about the experience of playing with it is that you could turn the same knob down and back to the same position but the sounds would be different every time. so i wanted to try and recreate a similar behavior in sunvox.

the attached metamodules are just endless drone generators.

there are 2 synth/texture sections. if you move a slider to the far right - 100%, it crossfades to the right synth section but also randomizes the left synth section's params at the point the slider hits 100% right. and vice versa.

i know im probably one of the few here who actually have interest or use for this kind of weird experimental thing but i think the core idea inside these (using note random < note+pitch2ctrl) could be applied subtly to give any effects or generators a bit of generative randomness to keep things sounding fresh with unique timbres every time you reload a project or every time a slider is moved to a certain point.
