acheney modules github repository!

Post by AutumnCheney »

hello

as some of you may have noticed, i have not uploaded any modules in a while. i have updated many of them since then and made new ones, and i also changed my sunvox name from autumnc to acheney

because i don't feel like flooding this channel with individual modules, i want to instead let you know that i've made a github repository! it includes the modules separated into relevant categories as well as documentation for each module!

just clone the repo and merge it with sunvox's root directory to get the modules and docs

here is the repo: https://github.com/autumncheney/sunvox-modules

note that the modules require the latest sunvox 2.0 beta for the colors and extended controllers. idk what happens if you try to load it into 1.9.6c or lower

i will be keeping it updated, so keep an eye out for any new commits!

i'll also see if i can get it included with the sunvox 2.0 distribution

have a nice day, and happy holidays!

i just pushed a few important commits!

i added a new synth: the mod8, a monophonic six-operator phase modulation/ring modulation synth inspired by native instruments fm8, image-line sytrus, and the like, based on the modulator and fmx modules. for more info, please see the module documentation. i'm especially proud of this one

i also added a bode frequency shifter module based on the fft module

lastly, i fixed a few small things and added missing controllers to a few modules

have a very happy holiday season!

finally updated the repo! it includes all of the modules i've made over the past several months, plus a few unreleased ones and updates

some notable additions include the bazzdiot synth (a clone of a certain reaktor ensemble), updates to the edm drums + acoustic snare, new breaks, fmx-based models of the piano and wind instruments, a much better cab effect and guitar amp, a unique vocoder, and more...

haven't updated the docs yet, but i'll do it eventually... anyone want to help me?

quick commit, the aforementioned vocoder wasn't designed the way i wanted it to be (just now realized this), so i fixed it. hopefully this doesn't cause any trouble >_<

updated the template.sunvox in the repo: added default markers for song info + a device to a/b a reference mix in a sampler (it's empty by default of course)

do note that the reference mix is in a pattern, just trim it as needed for your song's length

added a new instrument: the bucephalus, for producing all kinds of clanging, metallic percussion (while also being distinct from my other pan module)

it uses an fm setup with a carrier and three modulators (with one of them modulating the other) as well as a noise generator sent into two resonators and a flanger

if you're an afx fan you'll know where the name came from

it's in the instruments/drums folder, go check it out!

decided to revert the sunfortm to an older version, that version sounded better imo (though the envelopes are a bit shorter)

and just like that, we have a new module: digital fx. like the analog fx, but digital and w/ plenty of gritty, glitchy aliasing + cool flexible effects

i pushed an update to the loop pro that brings some fixes and the ability to pitch-track the delay time

also, i added a new module inspired by echo2's "chaos phaser" module, with some improvements. i call it the "cloud vibrato", and it can do a bunch of things, from chorus/unison to a crazy pseudo-granular "clouding" effect not dissimilar from the fft's random phase effect, but without the latency (hence the name)

after a lot of work (especially over the past few hours), i bring you: vox1, a clone of the vst synth1! almost all of the controls are faithful to the original, and it also goes somewhat beyond the capabilities of the original synth (you can have multiple effects). additionally, this module is preset-enabled, so you can save your own presets using the preset method (https://warmplace.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=6236)!

it comes in two variants: mono and poly

as a bonus, i also added the internal unison effect (based on the cloud vibrato and supersaw ii), and i'll attach the default preset for the vox1 to this post

fixed loop pro, and...

have you ever wanted an easy way to do timestretching and looping? i added a module for that: a variant of my simple slicer, the timestretch slicer! just connect it to a sampler with your break/whatever in it and adjust the settings

a few things to note:

- by default, it is configured to play a slice 16 lines long at 6 tpl and 180 bpm, so change these if you want no timestretch and your sample doesn't fit these
- the "phrase length" is the length of the sample, increase this by a factor of 2 to timestretch the sample to half the tempo
- the retrigger length is how often the sample gets retriggered. changing the unit and speed increases the granularity, but too much can make things like hihats sound crappy
- the loop length is capped by the retrigger length
