My first attempt in sunvox

Post by Zorf »

Well, I finally did it... I actually got an account on this forum. Not to start off my time here in a dull manner, I thought I would show off some of my Sunvox stuff. I have about four songs prepared, and I'll probably put them up in no particular order and at irregular intervals, simply 'cause I'm lazy ;). Now, I only have month or two worth of experience in the program, and I don't have a musical background, so I don't expect much, but any comment would be much obliged.

That's probably it until I make some new stuff. I hope you all enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making them.

Hey, welcome to the forum...

Listening to your song right now. It has a lot of creativity and atmosphere.
Some parts show massive promise, like you have some fresh ideas. Great use of reverbs overall. Really well done.

The part from about 1:20 thru 1:40 is really really cool. However when the beat comes in, it doesn't seem to fit with the rhythm of the synth. I think maybe tweaking this section and making the rhythm more fitting would give the track a lot more energy.

However, other parts have that "new to tracking" feel which reminds me of some of my early songs. (Nothing wrong with that particularly. We all have to start somewhere). Especially near the end, there is a lot of discord which is not completely pleasant to listen to ... But maybe this was the effect you were going for?

Overall, you show a lot of potential. Keep up the great work!

You may also want to get a Soundcloud account, which is where most of the Sunvox people share their music. Also I suggest encoding your songs in mp3 instead of sharing the full WAV file. One good mp3 encoder program is called Lamedrop - http://rarewares.org/mp3-lamedrop.php. Just make sure to set the bitrate to at least 192kbps or higher, and use the "Joint Stereo" option. (Anything lower sounds bad from the mp3 compression)

Keep up the good work. Hope to hear more!
