Artifacts when changing controller volume

Post by Sad0nion »

Hi, I am stuck on a problem which creates clicky noise when I change parameters relating to volume of controllers and or generators.
Generators, echo, reverb and such. Is there something I am overlooking?
Thanks for your great work!

Any thoughts welcome

A couple thoughts... Try using an Amplifier after and changing it's "fine volume" controller. Has 32768 steps instead of 256 or fewer.

If you need it smoothed more, there is a more complex chain that can do so: Amplifier set with DC offset to 128, to second Amplifier where you control volume or fine volume, to a Sound2ctl, to the fine volume controller of a third Amplifier where you also have your sound being sent to. Complex yes, but the "smooth" controller on the Sound2ctl will help you avoid the clicks and pops typically associated with large volume changes.

Also please try to use Analog Generator. The following modules have a built-in smoothing mechanism for almost all controllers: Analog Generator, Sampler, Filter, Filter Pro.
