Autotune

Post by monoben »

Has anyone had a stab at making an autotune module? It must be possible, now we have a pitch2control module maybe we can use that to somehow understand the input frequency and change the output frequency using the pitch shifter? Dose anyone know anything about how autotune is achieved in other programs? I've used a variety of autotune programs including "ZitaRetune" in Ardour on a Linux machine, "Melodyne" in Protools on a mac and MU Technology's "ReTune" in Auria pro (Auria is basically like protools for IPad). They all seem to come with a healthy dollop of latency, which tells me there's a lot going on under the hood. There must be some way we can make a module that takes the input frequency and shifts the pitch to the nearest equally tempered note.

We need yet another module - PitchDetector, which will recognize the base pitch of the input sound.
It will be added in one of the next SunVox updates.
